Recorder Club

During school Miss. Brannan has decided to make a club for recorder players, and after lots of practise she has entered us in the Ilford recorder festival at Saint Mary’s church. Most of the musicians are very good at playing the recorder.

We  practice every Wednesday and anyone who would be interested in joining will be allowed to do so after the recorder festival.

Fairlop has pledged to be a Singing School

Fairlop Primary School has pledged to become a Sing Up school and is currently working towards a Silver Award. Fairlop is committed to developing children's learning through singing. Children sing everyday as part of their classroom routine and every 3 weeks learn a new song as a whole school. These songs that are avaliable to listen to at home by clicking on the link - Sing up songs.
In addition, children at Fairlop are taught songs in their lessons that link to year group topics which enhance the curriculum andmake learning fun. There are also videos attached to the blog if you want to find out more about Sing Up and the impact it has on children's learning and general development.
The Sing Up Awards celebrate and promote schools that value singing as an important part of each day. The Awards complement other initiatives and programmes, such as Healthy Schools and the School Sports Initiative. Similarly, the Every Child Matters objectives can be achieved through the Awards, by putting singing at the heart of school life.
Fairlop offers children the opportunity to attend a choir after school on a Tuesday morning 8.15 - 9.15 and Tuesday evening from 3.30 - 4.30. The Lower School Choir, for years 1, 2 & 3 is run by Mrs Low and the Upper School Choir, for years 4, 5 & 6 is run by Mr Powell. If you would like to find out more about the choirs and singing events coming up in the school year then please do not hesitate to ask one of us.
